Thomas Nye, born in 1961, grew up reading anything he could find about horses and early American history.
When he moved near an Amish community in Iowa, it was as if he had slipped into his favorite book. Thomas
and Shari, his wife of 36 years, live on her family farm where they raised five children. Their six grandchildren
love to visit Karma and Karla, a team of Percheron draft horses Thomas purchased from Amish neighbors. Walking a
mail route in Iowa City keeps Thomas close to nature and affords him many quiet hours which he uses to dream up
novels. Over three decades of friendships with Amish neighbors has revealed a simple wisdom that he weaves into
