Bladensburg, MD, June 26, 2014 – Stories containing
kings, queens, princesses, princes, centaurs, and various otherworldly
creatures are nothing new for the speculative fiction genre. However,
Boonville author Ashlee Willis
was determined to add a special spin to her story that has already
captured the hearts and imaginations of fantasy readers across the
United States.
Inspired by C.S. Lewis and his Narnia series,
Ashlee Willis always had a desire to climb inside the books that she
read and become a character. So, she wrote a novel in which the main
character does just that. The Word Changers (326 pp, $13.95), Willis’
first published work, takes the reader on a journey with a distressed
teenage girl who opens a strange book in the library, and suddenly finds
herself magically drawn inside of the story, inadvertently becoming one
of the characters. Now she must fight to free herself from a Plot that
has been usurped by an evil king, who will do anything to maintain his
grasp on the Plot and the characters that are a part of it. Preliminary
reviews for the book have been very positive, with many readers praising
the uniqueness of the story, the unpredictability of the characters, the
relentless pace, and the allegorical truth in which the Author of the
story is a key figure. Fantasy author Anne Elisabeth Stengl says, “I
have had the opportunity to read some of Ashlee's work, and I was
immediately impressed by her beautiful combination of elegant writing
with fascinating storytelling.”
The Word Changers was released on
June 23 and is currently available in eBook and paperback at Amazon.com
and other online outlets.
