About this Book

Meghan was determined to fulfill the dream of building her own home. Her daughter Kaci deserved that much. She wouldn’t have survived the divorce without the moral support of her daughter. It wasn’t easy raising a teenager alone, even though Kaci was never a problem. The real problem was not enough hours in the day. Although Meghan’s faith remained strong and she leaned on God every day, church attendance had been shoved to the back burner. She hated to admit, even to herself, that she had been away from church so long she had not met the new pastor who took over six months ago.

Travis Harmon, the new pastor of Hope Community Church, had a secret. Only the head elder was aware of the inner turmoil his friend suffered. Travis had a gift when it came to leading souls to Christ, but he could be forced to give up the ministry. What would it take to heal his tortured heart? Would he ever feel whole again?

Diamond in the Rough is a story of God’s healing power. How he looks past our flaws and weaknesses and sees our potential. He looks beyond the obvious, beyond the experiences that have taken a toll on our optimism. He looks at our character, our soul. And he looks through the loving eyes of a parent. On the surface, we may not look like much. But with some hard work and a little bit of polishing, we can shine like the brightest diamond.

Reviews for Diamond in the Rough

“I struggle to find books that I will read, ones that have a great story, believable characters and it keeps my interest throughout the book. I also don’t want to read cussing, sexual subject matter and other offensive content. I have been privileged to read Diamond In The Rough and enjoyed every word in the book; as a matter of fact, it ended before I was ready to put down the book. Joyce has developed her characters so I could relate to them on a personal level. She has made them come to life in a real way. Meghan is an imperfect woman with a strong desire to create a life worth living, for her and her daughter. She is independent, strong willed and capable. She isn’t interested in a romantic relationship, but is faced with a developing friendship. You will have to read the book to learn what happens. Happy reading.” ~ Dr. Cynthia Suriano ~

Diamond in the Rough was a wonderful read. It was one of those books that once you start it you don’t want to stop until you are done. What I loved about it is that it was a feel-good kind of book with a great storyline and kept my interest until the end. One of those books that you aren’t ready for it to end.” ~ Diana Whitmire ~

Diamond in the Rough is a true gem to read. It’s easy to follow, and the author gives you a clear picture of each scene. I could picture in my mind exactly what each character looked like, how the house being built looked, the area around it, etc. I loved the characters and the story – it was an easy read, and I didn’t want to put it down! It’s nice to read a good, wholesome love story that shows good Christian values even in today’s society. Can’t wait for the sequel!” ~ Leigh Ann Wathen ~

Diamond in the Rough is an incredible story of a single mom who will do everything it takes to build a better life for herself and her daughter. Meghan is a strong, independent woman who sometimes takes on more than she can (or should?) chew, but she knows God has her back. Learning more about Travis with the turn of every page was exciting, and the author did a wonderful job making the reader understand what he was going through. The descriptions in the book make you feel as though you’re standing in the room (or on the construction site) with the characters. Overall, Diamond in the Rough is a great book, and I will be recommending it to everyone I can. Five stars!” ~ Chereé Dennison ~
